VOLUNTEERS ARE A VITAL PART OF OUR TEAM.
Advocate for women’s health, deliver vital products and provide education in your community.
Help us, help many
To the left is just a few of our many wonderful volunteers — won’t you join us on our mission?
Whether helping one homeless woman or hundreds of school age girls, we can only provide products, education and advocacy with the efforts of people like you.
Our volunteers are critical partners and we need help in several areas. Please contact us if you would like to join our volunteer team.
Opportunities:
Advocate TO the LEGISLATURE
We need volunteers who can help influence the introduction, enactment and modification of legislation. Menstrual hygiene is a basic human need, and should be both tax free and available like toilet paper and soap in school restrooms. In SC, menstrual hygiene products are taxed at the highest sales tax rate and this must change.
We need lawyers, lobbyist and politically active citizens to work with local state and federal officials to provide information, seek support and lobby for change.
perform CORPORATE outreach
We need individuals connected with the business world to help introduce The Homeless Period Project to corporations who want to give back to the community. The opportunity carries excellent benefits including exposing the company’s efforts via PR, strengthening of internal teams and increasing brand awareness. Help us make The Homeless Period Project a corporate cause.
Write grants oR fundraise
We are seeking grant writers and fundraisers to help bring money into The Homeless Period Project, a nonprofit organization, so that we can provide aid to more individuals in need. We need accomplished writers to support the research, acquisition and completion of grants to fund both our overarching program and specific projects. We also need fundraisers who can help us with direct marketing, planning and executing special events, researching prospective donors, soliciting major donors, planned giving campaigns, data management and consulting.
Provide education to schools, shelters and/or churches
Maximizing awareness of the lack of menstrual hygiene in the US and around the world as well as encouraging participation in the advocation of education, support and legislative changes must happen at the community level. We need volunteers to share our message with schools, shelters and churches.
help period party hosts
Often, a Period Party Host may need a bit of help getting everything organized. Coordinating people, products and the event itself can be challenging for a first-timer. If you have experience hosting Period Parties and would be willing to mentor some of our wonderful hosts, we welcome the support.
coordinate and assemble period packs
In addition to the excellent support Period Parties offer us, thousands of Period Packs still need to be composed in our homes and offices. We need people who can provide us a hand putting these packs together and preparing them for delivery to schools, shelters and individuals in need.
drop off shipments at schools, shelters and other locations with needS
Boxes and bags of Period Packs need to be delivered to schools and shelters. We need volunteers to help us make this happen. Sometimes it is a simple drop-off and sometimes it requires a conversation and light training. A truck, SUV or station wagon makes the job easier.
drop off shipments at UPS
Boxes of Period Packs need to be dropped off at UPS weekly — sometimes more often. These boxes are often large and heavy and require a truck for transport. We need volunteers to help us manage this important task.
