The truck will be in Greenville on Wednesday, 11/27. - Main St, Greenville, SC
Description
Want to see the tampon tax eliminated? On November 27, make your voice heard. Join us in Greenville for the Tampon Tax Protest Tour. Our collective action is a first step in initiating lawsuits against the 33 states that don’t consider tampons and pads necessities.
Why we're protesting
A sales tax on menstrual products is not just inequitable and unfair; it is sex-based discrimination in violation of the equal protection clauses of the state and federal constitutions, and is therefore unconstitutional and illegal.
What we're doing
It's simple: Stop by for 20 minutes to submit a sales tax reimbursement claim to your state’s department of revenue, protesting the sales tax on your period product receipt as unconstitutional.
How it works
Bring a tampon or pad receipt (or get one on site from LOLA).
Fill out a Claim for Refund contesting the sales tax on your receipt (we’ll have everything you need, including the address to your dept of revenue and a pre-stamped envelope).
Rally your community with a photo from our protest installation.
What to bring
A receipt from a period product purchase (we'll be selling product if you want to get a receipt onsite)
